The current status of the area that will transform into a pedestrian street in District 7
The Ho Chi Minh People’s Committee has issued a document approving the plan of implementing a pilot project to establish a pedestrian street with commercial, service, cuisine, and cultural in Ho Ban Nguyet (Crescent Lake) – Anh Sao (Star Light) Bridge at Phu My Hung area (District 7).
Accordingly, the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City offers Authorities of District 7 to be in charge of the planned walkway to ensure food safety, firefighting, and prevention, environmental protection, regular checks on prices, etc.
Earlier, The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade proposed a plan for the pedestrian street for commercial, cuisine, and cultural in Ho Ban Nguyet – Anh Sao Bridge at Phu My Hung (Tan Phu and Tan Phong Wards) with an area of 9,000m2.
Specifically, based on the initial plan, there will be maintained the pedestrian street, commerce, and cuisine on Ton Dat Tien Street (stretching from Nguyen Van Linh Parkway to Anh Sao Bridge).
The pedestrian street will open daily from 18:00 to midnight. For entertainment, sports, and cultural programs, the activities will finish before 22:00. The pilot period is one year.
According to the Labour (Lao Dong) newspaper, in the 500 meters long from Ton Dat Tien Street to Anh Sao Bridge, many citizens often come here for walking, playing, entertainment, especially during holidays and Tet.
This area has many restaurants and shopping centers (Crescent Mall) with convenient transportation systems and complete infrastructure.

“Realistically, this area has developed quite well, and residents often come here every day in the early morning or evening for a walk. The development of a pedestrian street and culinary will make this place livelier, but I am concerned that without well organization and management, issues such as environmental pollution, security, etc.… could arise”, Mr. Quang Hung (residential of Tan Phong ward, district 7) expressed.
If the initial plan is implemented, it will create an area for sightseeing, entertainment, and shopping for local people and tourists.
